About

I have been a marketing professional for over 25 years. My expertise comes from my eclectic life experiences and self-taught education: I worked my way up from the lowest rung on the ladder in a marketing department to my last major corporate position as regional vice president of marketing & communications for a major health system in Southern California. In the process I have honed my marketing expertise by doing it, breathing it, living it, reading books, attending seminars and conferences and simply thinking fast on my feet and taking risks. I have also taught at UCLA and currently teach at UC Riverside Extension.

  • I’ve been in start-ups, mid-size companies, and large organizations—as well as worked with individuals and for myself.
  • I’ve sold products, recruited blood donors, set up call centers and worked as press spokesman during crisis and adversarial situations.
  • I’ve written business, marketing and strategic plans; written copy for commercials, brochures, websites, newsletters, news releases and presentations. If it has to be written, I’ve probably done it.
  • I’ve facilitated retreats, seminars and workshops, as well as speak at trade association events and to business classes.

My experience has proven to me that everything you do in your business is a marketing activity and everyone in your business is a marketer. And I believe all marketing begins and ends with the power of words: in all forms—in all channels—in all media.
