We marketers are independent folks who think for ourselves. We understand that great marketing is not something you slap together. We understand the many pieces of the puzzle we have to assemble to achieve and exceed desired results. We also understand that a major part of our jobs is to constantly educate about what marketing is and isn’t. This is especially true since most of the people we work with and for—clients, CEOs, stakeholders, internal staff, et al.—seem to have an opinion as to what it is we do and what it takes to make marketing excellence happen…and are too often wrong.
